The <fieldset> and <legend> Elements

The <fieldset> element organizes correlated data within a form.

The <legend> element establishes a title for the <fieldset> element.

Example

<form action=”/action_page.php”>
  <fieldset>
    <legend>Personalia:</legend>
    <label for=”fname”>First name:</label><br>
    <input type=”text” id=”fname” name=”fname” value=”John”><br>
    <label for=”lname”>Last name:</label><br>
    <input type=”text” id=”lname” name=”lname” value=”Doe”><br><br>
    <input type=”submit” value=”Submit”>
  </fieldset>
</form>

The <datalist> Element

The <datalist> element provides predefined options for an <input> field, with the list attribute of the <input> matching the id of the <datalist>.

Example

<form action=”/action_page.php”>
  <input list=”browsers”>
  <datalist id=”browsers”>
    <option value=”Edge”>
    <option value=”Firefox”>
    <option value=”Chrome”>
    <option value=”Opera”>
    <option value=”Safari”>
  </datalist>
</form>
